A little more about me

I’m a wife, mother, nanna and coffee lover and the woman who is Insight Spending Planners.

In my past life I held senior roles in corporate and government working in human resources management, business improvement, coaching, training and employee development. I worked hard, climbed the corporate ladder, put in the long hours and reached the magic six-figure salary.

But, despite striving for most of my adult life to finally “make it”, I discovered that my work no longer brought me joy. On the surface everything seemed fine, but I felt a growing emptiness inside; I’d lost my spark.

I took some time out to consider what really matters to me and how I could serve others in a valuable way. I was sure that I would not go back to trading my time for money with an employer.

My “aha” moment came when I reflected on what had made a big difference in my life. I realised that the turning point for me was when I took charge of my finances using spending plans – a smarter system of budgeting that actually works! My relationship with money also changed. I now see money as a tool that allows me to live the life I choose, rather than something I need for its own sake.

I created Insight Spending Planners with the purpose of teaching other women how to manage their money and achieve a secure financial future without stress or overwhelm. I know for certain that this stuff that changed my life changes others’ lives too.

I know what it’s like to be where you are now, so you will be heard and understood, supported not judged. I would love to teach you everything I’ve learned from my journey and I can’t wait to hear from you.

P.S. I’m not a financial planner, accountant, finance broker, investment adviser or tax agent and my business is not affiliated with any banks, loans, insurances or investments. As a Spending Planner accredited by the Spending Planners Institute, I am qualified to teach the smartest method of budgeting.

My experience with spending plans

My experience with Spending Plans

There was a time when my husband’s business was thriving in the summer however there was very little income in the cooler months. I have always managed the family finances but I struggled with it because I couldn’t rely on a set amount of money coming in each week.

In lean times, we used credit cards to get us through. We lived in hope that the next peak season would clear our debt (it usually didn’t). I was working full time, we had a home mortgage, consumer debt, no savings and two teenage daughters. I hated the uncertainty and anxiety I felt because I wasn’t in control. I’d given up on traditional budgeting because it just wasn’t working and I went in search of a better solution.

After looking at many different systems, I found a unique method of getting our finances on track using spending plans.

My first spending plan was a revelation! I now knew our true financial position and we had a plan for how we’d achieve our dream of financial security with no debt. There’s nothing like the peace of mind that comes with knowing that you will be alright financially and the happiness that follows when you reach each financial milestone in your plan.

Over the next 3 years we cleared our credit card debt, built our savings, took our daughters on their very first overseas holiday and a few years later paid out our home mortgage.

Our spending plans (and there have been many versions!) continue to take us one step at a time towards our goals.
